Dehradun, 4 Apr: The most awaited event of the UPES School of Business, Logistikas’19, concluded successfully at the Kandoli campus of the University on 3 April.
The event, held under the aegis of ‘Department of Logistics & Supply Chain Management (LSCM)’ – School of Business, UPES, is organised annually to impart knowledge about the upcoming trends and technologies in the field of logistics to its students. Vinay Kumar Mishra, Executive Director- Retail, Indian Oil Corporation Limited inaugurated the event as the ‘Chief Guest’ in the presence of ‘Guest Speaker’ JoJo Davis, Head – Supply Chain, Tupperware; Dr Deepankar Chakrabarti – Dean, SOB; Dr Neeraj Anand, Head – Department of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, SOB; Dr SK Pokhriyal, Head – Department of Energy Management, SOB, and the faculty and staff.
According to Arun Dhand, Sr Director, Public Affairs, UPES, this 11th Edition of Logistikas presented the success stories of past events over 10 years. Addressing the audience, Dr Neeraj Anand said, “The distinctive platform of the event provides students with an opportunity to interact face to face with industry experts and help them realise the importance of learning managerial skills beyond classroom teaching.” The 11th Volume of ‘Logistics Xpress (LX)’ – the yearly magazine of the LSCM Department – was released by the Guests in the presence of Raghuvendra, President, Reliance Industries; senior faculty of School of Business and the LX Team.
Addressing the Technical Session, Chief Guest Vinay Kumar Misra enlightened the audience on recent developments made by Indian Oil in the retail segment. Anticipating future trends in the field of alternate sources of energy, Misra spoke about solar power, electric vehicles and the intensifying competition in these areas along with their digital solutions. “Petrol Pumps established on the highways are critical to the supply chain functions,” he stated.
A guest lecture by JoJo Davis followed the technical session. Davis spoke about ‘Tupperware’ and shared its business model with the audience. He elaborated on their initiatives towards preventing plastic pollution and concluded with the sustainable development goal and lifetime warranty targets set by Tupperware.
Amongst the several fun filled activities and competitions organised during the event, the prominent ones included LogIQ – considered as the most favoured business quiz; UnWrap; Slow Cycling; Tug of War; Showtime and PUBG, etc. Ten Teams vied for the crown in LogIQ and Sumit Tomar & Anshika were adjudged the winners, while Harshda & Mansi claimed the 1st Prize in Zaika-E-Hindustan.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held later in the evening and the winners were awarded for their skills. The event came to a close after a ‘Vote of Thanks’ proposed by Dr Rupesh Kumar – Assistant Professor, LSCM. He expressed his gratitude to the Advisory Members, Priyatosh, Kartik and Jyoti; the Core Committee Members, Yatharth Kansara, Harshang Desai and Ria, and to Suproteek Sinha and Subhabrata Saha for their contributions towards the annual magazine ‘LX’.
