1,300 Group D positions to be filled in Health Dept: Dr Dhan Singh Rawat

Dehradun, 28 Feb: In the effort to strengthen healthcare services across Uttarakhand, the state Health and Family Welfare Department will soon fill 1,300 vacant Group D positions in medical units. Departmental officials have been instructed to complete all formalities and initiate the recruitment process through outsourcing. Additionally, vacant posts in various categories within the department will also be filled.

Health and Medical Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat reviewed the department’s progress at his official residence, here, today. During the meeting, he directed officials to fill 1,300 Group D vacancies in government hospitals across the state through outsourcing. The district-wise breakdown of vacancies is as follows: Dehradun – 98; Haridwar – 110; Chamoli – 190; Tehri – 78; Pauri – 49; Pithoragarh – 137; Udham Singh Nagar – 76; Nainital – 356; Almora – 30; Uttarkashi – 46; Rudraprayag – 85; Champawat – 42; Bageshwar – 2.

Minister Rawat emphasised that the lack of Group D staff has affected hospital cleanliness, and filling these vacancies is essential to restore hygiene standards.

During the meeting, Minister Rawat issued several directives to improve healthcare services and accessibility. These included conducting a gap analysis of district and sub-district hospitals; enhancing hospital cleanliness and ensuring daily bed sheet changes; installing hoardings to raise awareness about available health services; reducing response time of 108 emergency ambulance services; improving hospital canteen services to provide patients with clean and nutritious food; ensuring residential facilities for doctors in government hospitals; strengthening the TB-Free India and Anemia-Free India campaigns with a concrete action plan. Also, prioritising the implementation of Chief Minister’s health-related announcements.

The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar, NHM Mission Director Swati Bhadauria, Additional Health Secretaries Anand Srivastava, Anuradha Pal, Director General, Health, Dr Sunita Tamta, Dr Ajit Mohan Johri, and other senior officials.
