150th Death Anniversary of Ghalib observed


DEHRADUN, 23 Feb: On the occasion or 50th Foundation Day of Ghalib Academy and 150th Death Anniversary of Mirza Ghalib a Drama “Lal Qila ka Aakhri Mushaira” was held today, at Ghalib Academy, New Delhi.
Dr. S. Farooq who was Chief Guest of the function said that Ghalib, the last great poet of the Mughal Era, was one of the most famous and influential poets of the Urdu and Persian languages. Today Ghalib remains popular not only in India, but also among the Hindustani diaspora around the world. He quoted few couplets to mark the occasion.
Dr. Aqeel Ahmed, secretary Ghalib Academy, expressed thanks to all present on the occasion. The hall was jam packed with the admirers from near and far.
