DEHRADUN, 29 Mar: The closing ceremony of the 18th FRI University Annual Sports Meet was held today at its Sports Ground. Dr SC Gairola, Director General, ICFRE, and Chancellor of FRI University, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr AK Tripathi, Registrar, FRI University welcomed all the guests and participants.
The University has four houses – Teak, Pine, Sal and Sandalwood. All Houses took part in the events with zeal and enthusiasm. Today’s main attractions were the finals of the 4×100 metres relay race in, both, Boys and Girls category, and tug of war. In the 4×100 metres relay race, boys’ category, the winner was Teak House and Sandal Wood House was the runner up. In Girls’ category, the winner was Sandal Wood House and Sal House was the runner up. In the 100 metres Boys’ category, Sumit Bhatt and Mohit Shukla for Teak House got the 1st and 2nd Positions. Vaibhav Bangar of Sandal House was in 3rd position. In the 100 metres girls’ category, Subhangi of Sal House was first, Tanya, Teak House, second, and Ankita, Sal House, third. In the tug of war in Boys’ category, the winner was Sandal Wood House, while Pine House was the runner up. In girls, Sandal Wood House was the winner, and Sal House, the runner up.
The Overall Championship Trophy was won by Sandal Wood House. The Individual Championship Trophy in boys’ category went to Mohit Shukla, Teak House, and in girls’ category to Anshu, Sandal Wood House. In the Closing Ceremony, all the houses took part in a March Past.
Chief Guest Dr SC Gairola presented medals to the winners. AS Rawat, Director, FRI, and Vice chancellor of the FRI University, was also present at the closing ceremony.
Honorary sports officer Dr RS Bhandari praised the participants for their discipline. Dr AK Tripathi proposed the vote of thanks.
