23rd All India Tenshinkan Karate Championship 2025 held in Mussoorie

Mussoorie, 30 May: The 23rd All India Tenshinkan Karate Championship 2025 was organised by the Tenshinkan Shotokan-Ryu Karate Federation of India, recognised by the Karate India Organisation, under the aegis of the Mussoorie Sports Association at the Town Hall here. Players from 13 states of the country, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, etc., participated.
Batches were constituted in sub-junior, junior, senior and master categories in the competition. Players demonstrated their talent in kumite (wrestling) and kata (independently performed forms of karate). All the matches were evaluated by internationally certified referees.
Hundreds of players from across the country participated in the competition, who showcased their technical proficiency and sportsmanship. Local spectators and karate lovers also participated enthusiastically in this event, which further increased the dignity of the event. Photos and videos of the excellent performance by players of different age groups during the competition were shared on social media, which further increased the enthusiasm of the youth towards karate.
Shihan Hasrat Ali Khan, President of Tenshinkan Shotokan-Ryu Karate Federation of India, said on this occasion, “Our aim is not only to impart technical education of karate, but also to develop discipline, confidence and sportsmanship among the youth. We are successful in achieving our objective through such events.” He said that his main objective is to promote tourism in the state along with sports.
Saurabh Sonkar, General Secretary of Mussoorie Sports Association, said that the aim of the national level competition in Mussoorie was to provide a platform to Karate players from all over the country, where they could showcase their abilities. Players of different belt levels and age groups participated in this event, which clearly showed the enthusiasm and dedication of the youth towards Karate. He said that the Karate competition organised in Mussoorie also gives local players a chance to showcase their skills. He said that there is a need for indoor and outdoor grounds in Mussoorie, for which the local administration and the government should take initiative. On this occasion, the organisation President Hanshi Hasrat Khan, Roopchand Guruji, Suresh Goyal, Bijendra Pudiir, Jagbir Bhandari, Pradeep Rauchhela, Vijay Jugran, etc. were among those present.
