5 new cities will be built over next 5 years: Dhami

Kashipur, 3 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stones of 9 schemes costing Rs 547 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) at Udayraj Hindu Inter College auditorium, here, today.  Of the 9 schemes, 8 are related to district Udham Singh Nagar and one in Ramnagar, Nainital district. After laying the foundation stones, the CM directed the officers to ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated time without any compromise in the quality of the construction work.

The Chief Minister added that the foundation stone of 9 housing projects had been laid under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna – Urban. It is the good fortune that today on such a holy day, he had got the opportunity to be involved in this virtuous work. He expressed confidence that, by September 2024, all these schemes would be completed on schedule.

The Chief Minister stated that all those beneficiaries who got the benefit of this scheme of the Prime Minister would get their dream home. This was being envisioned for years but was turning into reality now under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his leadership, the state government was also on the path of making Uttarakhand a leading state and all the projects would prove to be a milestone on this path. He said that, today, there are many such families still for whom their home is no less than a dream and they are not able to fulfil this dream even after years of hard work. When a poor person would get a home, there would be stability in life and there would be new hope. Dhami said that this campaign to provide pucca houses to the poor is not just a government scheme, it is also a commitment to give confidence to each and every underprivileged person of the state.

The CM added that the number of 9 projects for which the foundation stone had been laid today, through which 7,776 houses would be built, was no small number. A new era of prosperity would begin in these 7,776 families. Not only this, a very decisive initiative had also started in the direction of our women empowerment with this scheme. Today, more than 3 crore houses had been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the country.

Chief Minister Dhami declared that one ought to observe and notice the comparative details of how the present government and the previous governments had worked. He said that the facilities which ought to have been provided to the poor and needy long ago, were being provided in the present under the leadership of Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister is not only a Karma yogi but also a visionary who was also looking at the future that how a strong India would be made, how a Shreshtha Bharat would be made.

He said that land had also been approved for an AIIMS in Kichha, in the coming time there would be no need to wander for health services, as better health services would be available nearby. The Chief Minister added that the cities of the state were fast becoming the centres of economic activities and keeping this in mind, the government is continuously preparing the cities for a brighter tomorrow. He said that it had been decided that, within the next 5 years, the government would work to build 5 new cities in Uttarakhand. Work is also going on at a fast pace to increase the economic activities of the state.

Union Minister of State for Defence and Tourism Ajay Bhatt, Urban Development Minister Prem Chand Agarwal also expressed their views on this occasion.

Forest Development Corporation’s Kailash Gehtodi, Mayor Usha Chaudhary, MLAs Trilok Singh Cheema, Shiv Arora, Dewan Singh Bisht, former MLA Harbhajan Singh Cheema, and former MLA Shailendra Mohan Singhal were among those present on the occasion.
