Dehradun, 3 Oct: Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat today announced that after a lot of deliberation, he has decided to take a short break from active politics. He made this declaration on social media but added that he would always be available for the people of his native village and his party, the Congress. He added that he would for a while now be available in Delhi.
He said that after attaining adulthood, he had started dreaming of a separate Uttarakhand and had participated in the statehood movement. After the state formation, he also tried to contribute towards its development and take his party forward. When he became the CM in 2014, he also worked towards developing the Gairsain area in line with the aspirations of the people of the state in this regard. As a committed Congress leader, he also tried to motivate the party to fight the cultural nationalism of Narendra Modi. He also worked for promoting local Uttarakhand products. He said that he did succeed in some of his efforts while could not succeed in the others. It was time for him to take a short break from active politics now.
