5th All India PC Batta Memorial Cricket Tournament

Dehradun, 22 Apr: Second match on day 7 was played between The Doon School and Tula’s International School. The toss was won by The Doon School which decided to bat first and managed to score a total of 147/5 in their 20 overs with Vidit Verma scoring a half century for his team. Chasing this total Tulas team could only manage 100/8 in their 20 overs with Gaurav scoring 41 (39). Player of the match was awarded to Vidit Verma of The Doon School.

On day 8 the PC Batta Memorial Cricket Tournament entered its quarterfinal stage with the first game being played between the unbeaten Welham Boys’ School (WBS) and the resilient Selaqui International School. The toss went to WBS which decided to bat first posting a total of 148/7 in their 20 overs. To this response Selaqui International went down swinging as they came close to the target by scoring 132/6 with half centurion effort by Jeet scoring 53 (51). Player of the match went to Siddharth of WBS for scoring 48 off 49.

Second quarterfinal was played between The Doon School and Indian Public School. The toss was won by The Doon School which elected to bat first, posting a total of 119/7 in 20 overs with Pranay Gupta scoring a half century with the captain Vidit Verma scoring valuable 31 runs for his team, helping them to reach a defendable total. From IPS Veer Pratap and Nityanand Kumar took 2 wickets each. In response IPS produced a thrilling run chase but falling short of the total of just 6 runs with a total of 114/9. Vinesh Uniyal of The Doon School was awarded the Player of the match for taking 3 wickets in his 4 overs at just an economy of 2 runs per over.
