Dehradun, 22 Aug: The ‘5th Bhimsen Sangeet Samaroh’, in the memory of Bharat Ratna awardee Pt Bhimsen Joshi, was organised by Kalashray Sanskritik Sanstha in the auditorium of WIC. Padma Shri awardee Umakant Gundecha, Anant Gundecha (Dhrupad singer), Vidushi Anuradha Pal (Tabla player), Akhilesh Gundecha (Pakhawaj player), young singer Tanishk Jairiyal (Delhi), Dr Mamta Singh (eminent artist), Himanshu Darmoda (classical singer & Kalashraya President) were among those present. The creative presentation provided grandeur to the function.
Chief Guest Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ (Haridwar MP) appreciated the efforts of Kalashraya Sanstha. Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal and Dr S Farooq were present as the special guests.
The programme was conducted by Shlok Gera. A melodious performance was given by the students of Tarun Sangeet Vidyalaya. The jugalbandi of raga was highly appreciated by the audience. Malhar Raga based Dhrupad rendition, the magical rhythm of Tabla, Raag Megh enthralled the gathering. Padma Shri awardee Gundecha brothers, Vidushi Anuradha Pal, Dr Mamta Singh, Tanishk Jarial were honoured with the ‘Swaradhiraaj Samman’. Anjali Thapa, Ram Chakraborty and others provided support to the event.
