6 die in Manglaur as brick kiln wall collapses

Roorkee, 26 Dec: 6 workers died in Manglaur (Roorkee) and several cattle were buried as a wall of a brick kiln collapsed today. The incident occurred in Lahaboli village of Manglaur. After the collapse of the wall, 6 workers died, while two workers are reported to be seriously injured. They have been admitted to hospital. After receiving information about the accident, police and administration officials reached the spot.

According to the information received by the police, the wall of a brick kiln suddenly collapsed this morning in Lahaboli village of Manglaur Kotwali area. The inquiry revealed that 6 labourers and many cattle have died after being buried under the debris. As soon as the accident happened, the screams of those who were buried were heard. Soon after, a huge crowd of villagers gathered.

Relief and rescue work was done by removing debris with the help of JCB machines, even as chaos prevailed at the accident site.

Haridwar District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal and SSP Pramendra Dobhal obtained details about the accident from their subordinates and, later, also reached the accident site.

SSP Dobhal confirmed that 6 people died in the accident. Two people are injured. The injured have been admitted to hospital. Seeing the critical condition of one of the workers, the doctors have referred him to a higher centre.

Police Officers including SP Dehat Swapan Kishore Singh, CO, Manglaur, Bahadur Singh Chauhan, local Kotwali in-charge Pradeep Bisht, Sub Inspector Raghuveer Rawat were engaged in the relief and rescue work.
