68 habitual criminals booked under Goonda Act

Dehradun, 28 Sep: Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, Dalip Singh Kunwar has directed all the police station in-charges to take action against the people habitually involved in criminal activities in their respective areas under the Goonda and Gangster Acts. In compliance with the above orders, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, City, and Superintendent of Police, Rural, continuous action is being taken against such persons by identifying them at the police station level.

In the year 2022, till now, 68 habitual criminals have been penalised by Dehradun Police under the Goonda Act and a report has been sent to the District Magistrate. This figure is higher by 84 percent as compared to last year. Eight accused involved in illegal arms possession and sale of illegal liquor have been booked by police station Rishikesh, 8 accused involved in smuggling and theft of illegal liquor by Nehru Colony Police, 8 accused involved in assault, fraud, theft, illegal arms possession, liquor smuggling by Vasant Vihar police, 10 accused involved in drug smuggling, theft, robbery, bothering women and illegal betting business, 8 accused involved in smuggling of drugs and illicit liquor by Doiwala police, , 3 accused in smuggling of drugs and illegal liquor, narcotics and illegal liquor by police station Raipur, 4 accused involved in smuggling, 2 indulging in smuggling of narcotics and illegal liquor by Dalanwala police, 4 accused involved in smuggling of illegal arms, assault, theft, smuggling of drugs and illicit liquor by Sahaspur police station,9 accused involved in theft, smuggling of cows, smuggling of drugs and illegal liquor and, 2 accused in the smuggling of drugs and illegal liquor by the Premnagar Police, 1 accused in the incidents of theft by the Cantt police, were charged  under the Goonda Act.

In addition, action was also taken against 1 accused involved in smuggling of illegal liquor by the Rajpur Police.

Senior Superintendent of Police has directed all the in-charges of the police stations to collect necessary evidence against the above accused and present them in the concerned court for effective prosecution against the accused. Along with this, instructions have been given to ensure the criminals were restricted from entering the district for stipulated time period.
