Dehradun, 3 Mar: Cooperatives Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has announced that a seven-day fair cum exhibition of silk producers’ products from all over the country will be organised in Dehradun. The Union Textiles Minister and the Chief Minister will be invited to attend.
Minister Rawat was issued instructions to the officials of the Cooperative Department at the State Integrated Cooperative Development Project Directorate, here, today.
He instructed officials of the Uttarakhand Cooperative Silk Federation to make preparations for the 7-day fair of silk products. The Union Textiles Minister and the Chief Minister would inaugurate this fair. He said that the process of inviting those working as silk producers in all the states should be initiated.
Through this fair, Doon silk products will get recognition across the country. An exhibition of clothes made of silk from all over the country would also be organised at this fair. Products from the southern states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana would be available for purchase.
Dr Rawat claimed that the Uttarakhand Cooperative Silk Federation is doing good work. IAS trainees at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration have shown interest in purchasing these garments. Dr Rawat said that the costumes worn in all the convocation ceremonies of all the universities of Uttarakhand would be made of Doon silk.
Reviewing the functioning of the Silk Cooperative Federation, Regional Cooperative Union, Uttarakhand Cooperative Union, he said that these three institutions should prepare their structure and business plan for the coming year.
People associated with these three cooperatives would be sent to study in other states and report what they learn to the department.
He added that 13 progressive farmers are also being sent on educational tours abroad.
Additional Registrar Ira Upreti said that the names of progressive farmers of all the districts have been forward for the same, except from Almora district.
The Minister was also informed about the earnings of the three top institutions and instructed them to increase profits and business of the coming year.
Secretary Dr BVRC Purushottam said that all the three federations paid dividends of Rs 1 crore. He instructed the Managing Director of the Regional Cooperative Union to pay special attention to the training programme for the employees of the Cooperatives.
Present at the review meeting were Chairman of Uttarakhand Cooperative Union Matbar Singh Rawat, President of Uttarakhand Cooperative Silk Federation Chaudhary Ajit Singh, Chairman of Regional Cooperative Union Ram Mehrotra, Additional Registrar Ira Upreti, Anand Shukla, Neeraj Belwal, Ramindri Mandrawal, Mann Singh Saini, Matbar Kandari, Tribhuvan Singh Rawat, along with many other officers.
