Kotdwar, 13 Feb: Following the historic decision of the Supreme Court granting permission for the reconstruction and strengthening of the Laldhang–Chillarkhal Road, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and MLA from Kotdwar, received a grand and enthusiastic welcome upon her arrival in Kotdwar today.
A large number of BJP workers, local residents from urban and rural areas, social workers, traders, entrepreneurs, and representatives of various organisations gathered to welcome her. The entire region witnessed a festive atmosphere, with the participation of thousands of women making the occasion particularly historic.
Party workers and citizens felicitated the Speaker with garlands, traditional drums, and customary rituals, expressing their gratitude for her sustained efforts in securing approval for the Laldhang–Chillarkhal Road. Sweets were also distributed among the gathering, further enhancing the celebratory spirit.
On this occasion, Bhushan thanked the people of the region for their affection and support, stating that this achievement is the result of collective efforts. She extended special thanks to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his legal team for their effective representation, which led to the favorable decision by the Supreme Court.
She also expressed her gratitude to Garhwal MP Anil Baluni for his continuous monitoring and active support, which played a crucial role in making the project possible. Additionally, she thanked Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal and officials of the Forest Department for ensuring that necessary documentation and procedures were completed in a timely manner, enabling approval for the road passing through forest land.
Bhushan stated that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the road construction will be prepared shortly, and the construction work will commence soon in compliance with the standards and conditions set by the Supreme Court.
She stated that the Laldhang–Chillarkhal Road will prove to be a lifeline for the region. Its strengthening will provide all-weather connectivity to nearly 18 villages, accelerating development in education, healthcare, trade, and tourism, and integrating rural areas more effectively into the mainstream.
She expressed confidence that the commitment to the comprehensive and balanced development of the Kotdwar Assembly constituency will continue with the same dedication in the future.
