Quantum University celebrates International Women’s Day with “FemPOWERment 2.0”

Roorkee, 16 Mar: Quantum University celebrated International Women’s Day with an event titled “FemPOWERment 2.0 – Give To Gain: Growing Together Through Sharing, Mentorship & Action”. The programme was organised by the Women Entrepreneurship Cell (WE Cell) in collaboration with Genesis Incubator and Startup Uttarakhand at the Shyam Ji Auditorium, Quantum University, Roorkee. The event aimed to recognise the achievements of women and promote the spirit of leadership, mentorship, and collaborative growth among students.

The celebration began with the registration of participants followed by the inaugural ceremony and the traditional lamp lighting. Chancellor Ajay Goyal and Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Vivek Kumar were among those present.

Delivering the welcome address, Prof (Dr) Vivek Kumar highlighted the growing role of women in leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to believe in their abilities and emphasised that empowering women through education and opportunity is essential for building a balanced and progressive society.

Chancellor Ajay Goyal also addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts on the importance of supporting women through education, skill development, and entrepreneurship. He emphasised that when women are given the right opportunities, they contribute not only to economic growth but also to social transformation.

The event featured Akansha Gupta, CSR and Sustainability Leader and Women Innovator, as the Chief Guest. In her motivational address, she spoke about the importance of confidence, perseverance, and social responsibility in leadership. She encouraged students to pursue their dreams with determination and highlighted the impact women can create when they combine innovation with purpose.

A special highlight of the programme was the book launch of “Her Happy Empire” by Dr Shivangi Gupta, Founder of Intelligent Education and Goya Wellness. The book celebrates the journeys and achievements of women entrepreneurs and shares inspiring stories of resilience and success. The launch added a meaningful dimension to the event, encouraging young individuals to learn from the experiences of successful women leaders.

The celebration also included vibrant cultural performances by the university’s music and dance clubs. Group singing and dance performances added enthusiasm to the event and showcased the creativity and talent of the students.

An engaging keynote session, titled “Give to Grow”, was delivered by Meghna Joshi, Founder of SWAN Livelihood. During her session, she spoke about the importance of sharing knowledge, supporting others, and building strong networks for personal and professional growth. She emphasised that success becomes more meaningful when individuals help others grow along with them.

Another important segment of the event was the panel discussion, titled “From Support to Success”. The discussion focused on the role of mentorship, collaboration, and support systems in empowering women entrepreneurs. The panel included Dr Shalini Verma, Dr Amrita Kumari, Shruti Chauhan (Founder – Astitva Wellness), Vedika Goyal (Entrepreneur and Analyst at EY Finance Consulting), Navya Naveli (Co-founder – Impact Sapiens), and Kavita Gupta (Co-founder – Mumtree).

During the discussion, the panelists shared their experiences and perspectives on overcoming challenges, building careers, and supporting women in professional spaces. Their insights provided valuable guidance to students and young entrepreneurs who aspire to create their own paths in diverse industries.

A meaningful moment during the programme was the collective pledge, “When We Rise, We Lift Others.” Participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and encouraging one another in their personal and professional journeys, reinforcing the spirit of unity and empowerment.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 100–150 students and faculty members from various departments of Quantum University.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Amrita Kumari.

The celebration also aligned with the global vision of Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality, emphasising the importance of empowering women and ensuring equal opportunities for leadership, growth, and innovation.
