Photo Exhibition on Nagaland opens at Doon Library

Dehradun, 25 Mar: A photo exhibition showcasing the diverse aspects of Nagaland and its people was inaugurated today at the Doon Library and Research Centre, here. The exhibition is being organised in collaboration with Padma Shri awardee, renowned Himalayan and wildlife photographer Anoop Shah and SS Rasaily, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Retd).

The exhibition was inaugurated by Major General Anand Singh Rawat (Retd), former Chairman, Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. The exhibition will be open to the public from 25 to 30 March daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the third floor.

After the inauguration, many photographers, nature lovers, writers, and intellectuals visited the exhibition and appreciated the wonderful photographs. Anoop Shah and SS Rasaily highlighted the objectives of the exhibition, saying, “We want to share our happiness and excitement of traveling to a state about which we know very little. We have tried to break the stereotypes about our brothers and sisters from the Northeast by showcasing the rich and unique cultural heritage of Nagaland.”

“We also plan to organise a similar program in Nagaland to introduce our state’s culture and heritage to them. We want to strengthen the bond between people and promote mutual understanding and trust,” they added.

Major General Rawat (Retd) stated, “Such exhibitions help us understand the society, people, language, culture, and traditions of another region.”

The event was attended by N Ravi Shankar, Honorary Director, Doon Library and Research Centre, Dr Pankaj Nethani, Chandrashekhar Tiwari, JB Goyal, Dr DK Pandey, Sunder Bisht, former senior forest officer, Jairaj, Colonel Dimri, renowned mountaineer Chandra Prabha Aitwal, Dr Lalita Prasad, Shurveer Singh Rawat, Kusum Nautiyal, Rajneesh Joshi, Vinod Saklani, Yogita Thapliyal, and many others.
