IIP Science Club holds AAGAZ 4.0 as part of National Science Day celebrations

Dehradun, 27 Mar: The AcSIR Science Club of CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun, successfully organised AAGAZ 4.0 today as part of the National Science Day celebrations, witnessing enthusiastic participation from the institute’s scientific community. The theme for National Science Day 2026, “Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat”, highlights the critical role of women in shaping India’s scientific, technological, and innovation landscape.

The event commenced with an inaugural session featuring a welcome address by the Student Coordinator, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting. The Director of CSIR-IIP, Dr Harender Singh Bisht, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of scientific innovation and collaborative research in shaping the future.

The Chief Guest was Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Director, AcSIR, who in his plenary talk, titled “Building next generation researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and nation builders”, emphasised on the need for collaboration, embracing multi- disciplinarity and importance of clarity and passion for communication. He informed students and faculty about new avenues opened by AcSIR through iPhD and other programmes. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Hemant Kulkarni, Head, SCDD.

The event had around 200 participants, who showcased their creativity and scientific acumen through various competitions, including Rangoli (on Atmanirbhar Bharat theme), Photography (Patterns in nature: Discovering nature’s beauty), and Graphical Abstracts (Progress of India towards development of sustainable energy). Throughout the day, galleries prepared by research scholars attracted wide appreciation from visitors.

Post-lunch sessions included engaging activities like Science Quiz and Dumb Charade, followed by a prize distribution ceremony recognising outstanding performances. The celebrations concluded with vibrant cultural programmes and an evening event, fostering a spirit of unity and creativity among participants.

AAGAZ 4.0 provided an excellent platform for researchers, students, and staff to come together, celebrate science, and promote interdisciplinary engagement.
