Dehradun, 27 Mar: On Friday, Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana, Colonel of the Regiment of the Garhwal Rifles, paid a courtesy visit on Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi at his official residence located on New Cantt Road here. During the meeting, Lt Gen DS Rana also presented the minister an army memento.
During the discussion, Lt Gen Rana expressed gratitude for the programmes organized at the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre in Lansdowne. He requested timely implementation of the announcements made during the event, enhanced employment opportunities for ex-servicemen after retirement, and an increase in the honorarium for gallantry award winners. He also discussed the renovation of the Gabbar Singh Memorial in Chamba, Tehri district.
Additionally, he emphasised the need to take strong measures to prevent fraud in land-related matters involving ex-servicemen. Discussions were also held on creating seasonal employment opportunities for ex-servicemen along the Char Dham Yatra route and connecting them with self-employment initiatives.
In response, Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi discussed arrangements to organise an Army band show every 15 days at Sainya Dham. He also spoke about conducting a daily guard retreat in ceremonial dress and organising a full rehearsal parade in Dehradun on Army Day (15 January). He further requested cooperation from the Garhwal Rifles for the museum at Sainya Dham.
Also present during the meeting were Managing Director, UPNL, Brigadier JNS Bisht (Retd), Commanding Officer, 127th Territorial Army, Colonel Praful Thapliyal, and other military officials.
