Dehradun, 30 Mar: BJP’s State Media Incharge Manveer Singh Chauhan today claimed that the Women’s Congress is spreading misinformation regarding the law & order situation, asserting that the Dhami government has taken several significant decisions to ensure the social, economic and overall security of women. Reacting to allegations made by Congress President Jyoti Rautela, Chauhan remarked that rather than focusing on a negative agenda, she should openly acknowledge the decisions taken for the upliftment of women, which he claimed have set a precedent not only for the state but for the entire country. Chauhan highlighted the Lakhpati Didi scheme as a prime example of providing economic security to women, who serve as the pivot of the family, and further described the implementation of horizontal reservation for maternal power in the state as a historic move. He noted that women are directly benefitting from various self-employment schemes, while the Ghasiyari Yojana remains active in its objective to reduce the physical burden of carrying fodder.
Furthermore, Chauhan emphasised that the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in the state serves as a national benchmark and provides a protective shield for women’s safety, ensuring they can no longer be subjected to physical or mental abuse through deception, as identity disclosure is now mandatory. He added that the introduction of a stringent anti-conversion law further prevents injustice against women through fraudulent means.
Addressing the criticisms on law and order, Chauhan urged the Congress to recognise that crimes are now regularly registered and investigated, with legal action ensured based on evidence, contrasting this with the Congress tenure when filing a report was a struggle that often forced the public to protest on the streets.
