Satpuli (Pauri), 10 May: State Minister of Public Works, Irrigation, Tourism, Rural Construction, Religious Affairs and Culture, and Chaubattakhal MLA, Satpal Maharaj, along with Higher Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, inaugurated the newly constructed Government Degree College building at Khairasain in Satpuli, marking a significant step toward strengthening higher education in the region.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony held on Sunday, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj said that the inauguration was not merely the opening of a college building, but the foundation of education, future opportunities, and self-reliance for the people of Satpuli and Khairasain.
He stated that students in the remote hill region had struggled for years to access higher education. Harsh winters, damaged roads during the monsoon season, and long travel distances had posed major challenges, especially for girls pursuing education.
“With this modern educational facility now ready, the sons and daughters of Satpuli and Khairasain can dream of becoming IAS officers, doctors, engineers, and teachers while studying in their own region,” he said.
Satpal Maharaj added that the building stands as a living example of the Uttarakhand Government’s “Government at Every Doorstep” policy. The college will be equipped with modern classrooms, science laboratories, computer labs, and a library.
He expressed gratitude to Higher Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, departmental officials, and the district administration for their contribution to the construction of the building. He also urged teachers and students to spread the light of knowledge across the state and bring pride to Garhwal and Uttarakhand through their achievements.
Among those present on the occasion were BJP State Office Secretary Brijmohan, Director, Higher Education, BR Khali, College Principal Dr Sanjay, BJP Mandal President Rakesh Naithani, Sarvendra Singh, BJP Yuva Morcha District General Secretary Pankaj Dobariyal, Ganesh Rawat, Ankit Thakur, Surendra Bisht, and several other dignitaries.
Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj also inspected the ongoing construction work on the Satpuli Lake project and directed officials to ensure high-quality execution.
He stated that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand continues to achieve new milestones in development.
Referring to development works in the Chaubattakhal Assembly constituency, Satpal Maharaj said that the long-awaited lake project in the Satpuli Nagar Panchayat area is progressing rapidly at an estimated cost of Rs 56.34 crore. Once completed, the lake is expected to boost tourism, strengthen local businesses, and create employment opportunities in the region.
