Heavy rain & storm alert for many districts of U’khand

Dehradun, 10 May: The weather in Uttarakhand is set to change once again. Due to the entry of a Western Disturbance into the state, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms in several districts starting Monday.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong storms and rain are expected in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts. Rainfall is also expected in many other areas of the state, and residents have been advised to remain vigilant. People traveling in hilly areas have been urged to exercise caution.

The weather in the plains of the state remained particularly hot on Friday and Saturday. The heat was particularly severe in Kashipur and Jaspur in Udham Singh Nagar district, where the maximum temperature reached 36 degrees Celsius. In areas like Bajpur, Gadarpur, Nainital, and Roorkee, the afternoon heat and scorching sun left the streets deserted. Roorkee recorded a high of 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday. However, the Meteorological Department says that due to mountain activity, temperatures in some parts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar remained around 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the intense heat. The maximum temperature in Mokhampur area of ​​Dehradun was recorded at 32.3 degrees, which is about three degrees below normal.
