The event focused on the latest medical technologies and research-based knowledge. Experts held detailed discussions on the topic of “Fetal Echo,” highlighting the examination of a baby’s heart while still in the womb and its significance. During the CME, experts also presented a live demonstration of fetal echo and explained its medical aspects in detail.

Dr Rajendra Garg, President of the IRIA Uttarakhand State Chapter, and Dr Prachi Kala, Secretary, also shared important information.

Radiologists, cardiologists, fetal medicine specialists, gynaecologists, obstetricians, and many other doctors from various medical colleges across Uttarakhand participated in the CME. The programme was organised in the auditorium of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.

The programme was inaugurated on Sunday at the auditorium of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences by Chief Guest Dr Manoj Sharma, CMO, Dehradun; Dr Prathapan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University; Dr Utkarsh Sharma, Principal, SGRR Institute of Medical and Health Sciences; Organising Chairman Dr Rajeev Azad; and Organising Secretary Dr Rajendra Srivastava by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Dr Manoj Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Dehradun, said in his address that modern technologies like fetal echo are giving a new direction to maternal and child healthcare services. Early detection of heart-related complications during pregnancy makes timely treatment possible, which greatly helps in saving the lives of newborns. He described such scientific programmes as highly beneficial for enhancing doctors’ knowledge and improving healthcare services.

Dr Prathapan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, said that the university and hospital are always committed to promoting medical education, research, and modern healthcare services. Such academic and scientific programmes not only enrich doctors’ knowledge but also play an important role in providing patients with better and advanced medical care.

The keynote speaker at the CME was Dr C Krishna from Bengaluru, who delivered an expert lecture on “Fetal Echo”. He explained that fetal echo is an advanced medical technology used to examine the structure, heartbeat, and functioning of a baby’s heart while still in the womb. This test is extremely helpful in the timely detection of congenital heart diseases, blockages, valve-related disorders, or other complications during pregnancy.

Dr C Krishna stated that, if a heart disease or abnormal condition is detected in the baby while still in the womb, a treatment strategy can be planned immediately after birth. This greatly helps in saving the newborn’s life and ensuring better medical care. In serious or abnormal situations, further procedures are decided by specialist doctors based on medical consultation.

Experts explained that the main objective of CME programmes is to keep doctors updated with the latest medical technologies, research, and treatment methods so that patients can receive more effective and modern healthcare services.

During the event, experts also highlighted the growing importance of modern radiology, fetal medicine, and cardiac imaging. Scientific discussions, case studies, and exchange of experiences among doctors continued throughout the event.
