Dehradun, 27 May: The BJP has intensified preparations for the upcoming Uttarakhand visit of its national president Nitin Nabin tomorrow. The party has described the programme as a worker-centric organisational outreach focused on strengthening booth-level structure. Party sources confirmed that there have been some amendments to the original plan of events during Nabin’s visit. Now, he will hold meetings ranging from the state level down to the smallest Panchayat unit.
Nabin is expected to arrive tomorrow afternoon in Dehradun. On his arrival, he will be welcomed at various locations along the route from the Dehradun Airport to the BJP State Headquarters but there will be no official road show now. In view of the prevailing energy crisis, the number of vehicles in the convoy have been limited. Tomorrow, Nabin will first attend a meeting of the Core Committee. Subsequently, he will hold a meeting with the ministers. On 29 May, a meeting of all the party MPs and the MLAs will be held, in which all the ministers will also participate in their capacity as MLAs.
During his visit to Uttarakhand, BJP National President Nitin Nabin will also interact with seers and academicians. Two new events have been added to his itinerary following a revision of his schedule. Over the course of his three-day tour, the National President will address the party functionaries, from top state-level office bearers down to the smallest Panchayat units and boost their morale in view of the upcoming Assembly elections. As part of the visit, Nabin will dine at the residence of a booth-level BJP worker in the Garhi Cantt area of Dehradun.
The party has also decided against organising a large roadshow during the visit. According to BJP leaders, the decision has been taken to promote simplicity, avoid traffic disruption and convey a message of fuel conservation. Instead of a traditional roadshow and long vehicle convoys, the party is preparing for roadside welcome programmes where workers will greet the national president at different locations.
Several coordination meetings have been held at the BJP state headquarters in Dehradun to finalise preparations for the visit. State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt has been reviewing arrangements with organisational office-bearers, district presidents, in-charges and members of the media and social media teams.
Speaking informally with media persons, Bhatt said the BJP’s greatest strength lies in its booth-level organisation and that the party considers the booth its first and strongest unit. He said the national president’s visit had been designed around this philosophy, under which he would directly interact with booth workers, visit their homes, spend time with them and gather organisational feedback from the grassroots level.
Bhatt said the BJP gives equal importance to ordinary workers and senior office-bearers alike, and this tradition of maintaining direct contact with grassroots workers has been a defining feature of the party’s organisational culture. He added that Nitin Nabin’s decision to dine at the home of a booth worker reflected the party’s commitment to respecting and encouraging workers at the lowest organisational level.
He further stated that the primary focus of the visit would remain organisational strengthening and direct communication with party workers. According to him, the BJP does not function merely as an election-oriented political organisation but works continuously to connect leadership with workers standing at the last organisational mile. He said the party functions on the principle of “Antyodaya”, which aims to reach the last person in the social and organisational structure.
Party leaders said special emphasis was being placed on discipline and simplicity during the visit. They maintained that avoiding extravagant roadshows would not only help reduce inconvenience to the public but would also allow the organisational message to reach workers more effectively. BJP leaders said the programme was being designed as a worker-based interaction rather than an event centred on political display and showmanship.
Bhatt said the BJP had emerged as the world’s largest political party because it places the highest priority on respecting its workers and maintaining their morale. He said electoral victories and defeats were separate issues, but ensuring that workers’ concerns reached the top leadership remained an essential part of the BJP’s working style.
