CM launches, lays foundation stone for projects worth Rs 138 crores in Almora

Almora, 27 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was in Almora today where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 26 development projects worth around Rs 138 crores. Addressing a programme held at the new administrative building of Soban Singh Jeena University, the CM said the projects would strengthen road connectivity, education, healthcare, drinking water supply, irrigation, urban development and rural infrastructure in the district.

Dhami said the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society and that better facilities are provided to people living in the hill regions. He said work on roads, health services, educational institutions and drinking water schemes is being accelerated across the state with this objective in mind.

Describing Almora as an important district from cultural, historical and tourism perspectives, the CM said continuous development works are being undertaken keeping local requirements in view. He added that the projects would improve public amenities and give fresh momentum to the social and economic development of the region.

On this occasion, Dhami inaugurated 17 projects worth over Rs 112 crores while at the same time also laid foundation stones for nine projects worth nearly Rs 26 crores. Major inaugurated works included parking facilities, drinking water schemes, road improvement projects, flood protection works, university infrastructure and health-related facilities. Foundation stones were also laid for road strengthening works, barrage construction, temple beautification and educational infrastructure projects in different parts of the district.

Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, Zila Panchayat Chairperson Hema Gaida, Ranikhet MLA Pramod Nainwal, Vice-Chancellor Satpal Singh Bisht, District Magistrate Anshul Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Chandrashekhar R Ghodke, along with public representatives and university officials, were among those present on the occasion.
