Dehradun, 14 Jun: Dehradun WIC India Toastmasters Club successfully conducted its 545th meeting at Nukkad, here, today. The meeting revolved around the theme, “Learn How to Say No”, presented by Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD), TM Kothiyal. The theme encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of setting healthy boundaries, prioritising commitments, and communicating refusals with confidence and respect.
The meeting commenced with opening remarks by the Club President, followed by an engaging introduction to the theme by TM Kothiyal. Through thought-provoking insights and practical examples, the audience explored how the ability to say “no” can help individuals manage time effectively, reduce stress, and focus on what truly matters.
The prepared speech session featured insightful speeches by club members, including TM Sarah and TM Deepika, who captivated the audience with their personal experiences, storytelling, and valuable lessons. The speeches showcased the power of effective communication and the role it plays in personal and professional growth. These speeches were followed by detailed evaluations that provided constructive feedback and encouraged continuous improvement.
The Table Topics session, conducted by TM Bhavika, challenged participants to respond to impromptu questions, helping them sharpen their quick-thinking and public speaking skills. Members and guests enthusiastically participated, creating an engaging and energetic atmosphere.
The evaluation segment was led by General Evaluator TM Rishab, who coordinated feedback from evaluators and auxiliary role players. Their observations on timing, language, listening skills, and meeting effectiveness reinforced the Toastmasters culture of learning through supportive evaluation.
The meeting concluded with guest introductions, reflections, and the announcement of award winners who demonstrated excellence in various aspects of the programme.
The Award Winners were – Best Speaker: TM Sarah; Best Table Topics Speaker: Guest Aanya; Best Evaluator: TM Prakash; Best Role Player: TM Kothiyal; Best Auxiliary Role Player: TM Dev.
The meeting successfully combined learning, leadership, and fellowship, leaving participants with valuable insights on assertive communication and the importance of setting boundaries.
