Dehradun, 19 Jun: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran met Dehradun District In-charge Minister and Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal and submitted a memorandum regarding issues related to the Lakkhi Bagh Cremation Ground and the Vegetable Market located on Ring Road, Dehradun.
In his memorandum, Jugran stated that the Lakkhi Bagh Cremation Ground was established more than a century ago, when the area’s population and number of vehicles were negligible. However, with rapid urban growth over the years, both population and traffic have increased manifold, resulting in frequent congestion on the roads leading to the cremation ground.
He pointed out that local residents as well as people visiting the cremation ground for funeral services regularly face significant inconvenience due to traffic bottlenecks and inadequate parking facilities. The lack of sufficient parking space further aggravates the situation, especially during peak hours and public gatherings.
Ravindra Jugran urged the Minister to initiate the widening and expansion of all roads leading to the Lakkhi Bagh Cremation Ground to improve accessibility and provide relief to local residents and visitors. He emphasised that upgrading the existing road infrastructure has become a necessity in view of the growing traffic volume and public convenience.
Taking serious note of the matter, Cabinet Minister and District In-charge Minister Subodh Uniyal directed the District Magistrate of Dehradun in writing to explore the feasibility of the proposal and take necessary action accordingly.
