Dehradun/Haridwar, 15 Jul: Expanding its commercial portfolio, the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation (UCF) is set to enter the packaged drinking water industry with the launch of its new brand, ‘Himala Jal’. Construction of a state-of-the-art mineral drinking water plant at Jamalpur, Haridwar, is progressing rapidly.

As part of the project review, Senior Manager Tribhuvan Singh Rawat, acting on the directions of Managing Director Anand Shukla, conducted a site inspection of the under-construction facility. He reviewed the progress of civil works, machinery installation, and production preparedness in detail.

During the inspection, the executing agency and technical officials were instructed to complete all pending work ahead of the stipulated timeline. Following the visit, Rawat submitted a comprehensive inspection report to Managing Director Anand Shukla.

The Cooperative Federation has set a target of launching the ‘Himala Jal’ brand in the market by August 15. The brand aims to represent the purity, quality, and cooperative spirit of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and establish a strong presence not only within the state but also across other parts of the country.

Managing Director Anand Shukla said that, under the guidance of Cooperation Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation has been consistently expanding into new business sectors. He described the ‘Himala Jal’ project as a significant initiative aimed not only at supplying high-quality drinking water but also at accelerating the state’s economic activities through the cooperative model.

Shukla said the Federation has set an ambitious target of increasing its annual turnover from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,000 crore. To achieve this, it is strategically expanding into packaged drinking water, agriculture-based products, food processing, and other commercial sectors. He described ‘Himala Jal’ as a major milestone towards achieving this objective.

He further said that the modern bottling plant at Jamalpur would emerge as an important centre for local employment generation. The project is expected to create direct and indirect job opportunities for local youth in production, packaging, quality testing, transportation, marketing, and distribution. It will also strengthen the local economy and reinforce the vision of an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) Uttarakhand through the cooperative movement.

“Our endeavour is to take the pristine Himalayan water of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand to consumers across the country through the ‘Himala Jal’ brand,” Shukla said. “The water of Devbhoomi is not merely a natural resource but also a symbol of our cultural heritage and public trust.”

Senior Manager Tribhuvan Singh Rawat said construction work is progressing according to schedule. During the inspection, the quality of construction, adherence to safety standards, production systems, and progress of machinery installation were thoroughly reviewed. He instructed the concerned officials to complete all remaining work ahead of schedule to ensure the plant is formally commissioned by August 15.

He added that a detailed inspection report has already been submitted to the Managing Director. According to Rawat, ‘Himala Jal’ will represent not just a packaged drinking water brand, but also the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation’s commitment to quality, trust, innovation, and cooperative-led economic empowerment, while contributing significantly to the state’s industrial growth and employment generation.
