DEHRADUN, 1 Aug: District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan, chaired a district‑level Revenue Augmentation and Monitoring Committee meeting at the Collectorate premises here on Saturday. During the meeting, he issued stern directions to departmental officials, making it clear that any slackness in achieving government revenue targets will not be tolerated. He instructed the departments lagging behind their assigned goals to prepare practical action plans with immediate effect and accelerate recovery collection.
The DM also cautioned that accountability would be fixed for the officers showing negligence in target achievement and henceforth monthly reviews of progress would be conducted department‑wise in detail. During the meeting, it was noted that Jal Sansthan, Transport, Irrigation, Forest and Registration departments had recorded lower revenue collections compared to their stipulated targets. The DM directed the district level officials of these departments to analyse the reasons for shortfall thoroughly and devise concrete strategies to meet the goals.
The Executive Engineer of Irrigation informed that against the annual target of Rs 100 lakhs, revenue collection up to June stood at Rs 20.04 lakh. Sub‑Registrar offices reported revenue of Rs 380 crore against the annual target of Rs 1450 crore, including Rs 129 crore from stamp duty and registration fees. The District Mining Officer stated that against the June target of Rs 8 crore, revenue of Rs 8.06 crore was realised. In four cases of illegal mining and five cases of illegal transportation, penalties amounting to Rs 13.60 lakh were imposed, of which Rs 12.67 lakh has already been recovered.
The Excise Department officials reported a revenue of Rs 128 crore against the annual target of Rs 667.60 crore, while the State Tax Department achieved Rs 1142.36 crore against the target of Rs 4563.74 crore. The Transport Department, which had no annual target fixed for the year, reported revenue of Rs 5906.50 lakh up to June 2026, showing a 1.67 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Dehradun Municipal Corporation recorded Rs 24.37 crore against the target of Rs 75 crore, while Rishikesh Municipal Corporation achieved Rs 170.56 lakh against the target of Rs 1247.20 lakh.
The Forest Department reported revenue of Rs 17.22 crore against the annual target of Rs 63.63 crore for the financial year 2026‑27. The Irrigation Department also reported Rs 1.41 crore against the target of Rs 20.35 crore, while the Tourism Department recorded revenue of Rs 1.40 lakh. In addition, detailed review of income from all municipal bodies, nagar panchayats and other revenue‑earning departments was undertaken.
Among those present at the meeting included Superintending Engineer PWD OP Singh, Superintending Engineer Rajiv Saini, Executive Engineer Irrigation Dikshant Gupta, Executive Engineer Rajesh Kumar Nirwal, District Mining Officer Aishwarya Shah, Municipal Commissioner Rishikesh Vijay Nath Shukla, UTC’s Suresh Singh Chauhan along with officials from various departments.
