Tight security arrangements in place for Home Minister’s tour

Dehradun, 6 Oct: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving on a one day visit of Uttarakhand tomorrow. Earlier, his visit had been planned for two days, but the final programme approved by the Union Home Ministry indicates that he will be reaching Narendra Nagar from Jolly Grant Airport in a BSF helicopter and leave for Delhi in the evening after inaugurating the All India Police Science Congress at FRI campus.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the Union Home Minister’s visit. His visit will also result in some traffic diversions in Dehradun in view of the security requirements.
Several important and significant programmes are lined up for the Union Home Minister. First, Amit Shah will reach Narendra Nagar from Jolly Grant Airport from where he will fly in a BSF helicopter. At the Jolly Grant Airport, he will be welcomed by top BJP leaders led by State President Mahendra Bhatt and some ministers. In Narendra Nagar, he will chair the Central Regional Council meeting in the earlier part of the day. After this meeting, Amit Shah will leave for Dehradun, where he will inaugurate the All India Police Science Congress (AIPSC) at the FRI campus. Besides inaugurating the AIPSC, Shah will also meet senior FRI officials for a while.
After this programme, he will visit the BJP State Headquarters to hold two rounds of meetings with the party leaders. After the formal meetings, he will also speak with senior leaders and the Chief Minister at the BJP state headquarters regarding the political conditions in the state and about strengthening the party organisation. After this, Amit Shah will leave for Delhi following dinner at the BJP state headquarters.
As per the official programme received by the state government from the Home Ministry, Shah will reach the Police Training College Grounds in Narendra Nagar in a BSF helicopter at 11:10 a.m., from where he will be taken to Hotel Westin in Narendra Nagar, which is just about a kilometre away from the Police Training College. The Central Zonal Council meeting will be held here. Shah will be at the meeting till 1:15 p.m. and then have lunch with the CMs of the participating states – Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. After the lunch, Shah will reach the helipad at the Police Training College and depart for Dehradun in the BSF chopper by 2:25 p.m. He will reach the Gorkha Training Centre Army Helipad in Dehradun at 2:40 p.m. and then be at the FRI campus to inaugurate the All India Police Science Congress being organised at FRI from 3 to 4 p.m. He will also spend some time from 4:10 till 4:40 p.m. with scientists and senior officers of FRI. At 4:40 p.m., he will leave the FRI campus and reach BJP State Headquarters where he will stay till 8 p.m. After dinner at the BJP State Headquarters he will leave for Jolly Grant Airport by road and for Delhi by a special plane at 8:15 p.m.
Tight security arrangements have been ordered during Shah’s Doon visit. Operation of drones without permission will be prohibited around the venue (FRI campus). The Police personnel deputed for security duty have been directed to reach their places of duty three hours before the scheduled arrival.
According to Additional Director General of Police, AP Anshuman, only authorised persons and their vehicles will be allowed to reach the venue. The police force has been directed not to use mobile phones while on duty.
In addition, some traffic diversions have also been ordered for tomorrow in Dehradun. Traffic coming from Premnagar towards Ballupur will be partially stopped, traffic coming from the city will be sent from Panditwadi towards Balliwala via Lovely Market. Traffic going from Ghantaghar (Clock Tower) towards Premnagar may be partially stopped over Ballupur flyover, also vehicles going towards Ballupur Chowk will be diverted towards Balliwala. After 7 p.m. tomorrow, the traffic coming from Rispana towards Dharampur will be partially stopped at Rispana Bridge. Also, the traffic coming towards Dharampur will be diverted from Rispana Bridge towards Old Bypass Chowk.From 6 o’clock, heavy vehicles coming from Kargi Chowk towards Rispana will be diverted towards Dudhli Marg. The traffic going to and from some of the city’s main roads like EC Road, Behl Chowk, Dilaram Chowk, New Cantt Road will be partially stopped at the said intersections.
