Dehradun, 27 Jun: Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi reviewed departmental works with PMGSY officials at his camp office in Hathibarkala, today. He obtained detailed information about the progress of the works being carried out by the department. The minister issued necessary instructions to the officials regarding works under PMGSY.
He directed the officials to promptly complete the construction of the remaining 134 roads under PMGSY, including 85 roads and 49 bridges. He also instructed them to expedite the work on roads damaged by disasters. Officials reported that Rs 250 million were received for the repair of disaster-damaged roads in the year 2022-23, and all the work has been completed. This financial year, Rs 466.5 million have been received for road repairs. The minister instructed the officials to complete the work within the stipulated time and to promptly resolve discrepancies related to forest clearance.
Joshi emphasised the prompt distribution of compensation for the acquired land for PMGSY-approved roads to villagers. Officials reported that out of the 652 approved compensation cases, Rs 1,983.2 million have been distributed to account holders. The remaining 327 cases are in progress. The minister stressed prioritising the work related to compensation.
Officials reported that, out of 2,620 roads in the first and second phases of PMGSY, the construction of 2,316 roads has been completed, including 311 out of 367 bridges. Minister Ganesh Joshi also directed the construction of dumping yards for debris during road construction. He instructed officials to pay special attention to the quality of road construction.
Under the Vibrant Village scheme, the minister instructed the prompt completion of tender processes and construction of 43.96 kilometres of roads in eight villages in the Pithoragarh district, approved by the Centre with a cost of Rs 1,190 million. The minister instructed officials to expedite the remaining construction work on PMGSY roads and complete all road works under PMGSY within the stipulated time frame.
Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the state government has started the Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana for villages with a population of less than 250 that are deprived of road connectivity due to non-inclusion in PMGSY or any other scheme. He said that this would definitely connect villages with populations of 250 and 150 to the main road.
On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer Karmeendra Singh, Chief Engineer RP Singh, and Superintending Engineer Rajesh Singh were also present.
