New Delhi, 6 Aug: All BJP MPs from Uttarakhand, including Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, called on Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, here, and sought central assistance in reconstruction of the Kedarnath route which has been badly damaged due to excessive rains and landslides.
The Union Minister assured them that the work on it would begin soon.
After the meeting, BJP MP from Pauri, Anil Baluni stated before the media at the Parliament House that everyone knows the disaster that has struck the Kedar Valley as a result of which roads and National Highways have been damaged. He added that all MPs of Uttarakhand met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and apprised him of the situation in the region. The Minister was apprised that a major chunk of the National Highway has been washed away as a result of which the Kedarnath Yatra has been affected. He was also told that the state is facing economic losses because of the disaster.
Baluni further stated that the Union Road Transport & Highways was also asked for assistance in finding and ensuring a permanent solution to landslides in the state. Gadkari assured the MPs from Uttarakhand that tunnels will be made wherever necessary in the state.
Those who called on Gadkari included Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tehri MP Mala Rajyalaxmi Shah.
