Dehradun, 9 Dec: Jolly Grant Airport, here, was evacuated and all operations were suspended for approximately an hour today following a bomb threat. The alarming call led security agencies to take immediate action in view of the safety of passengers and staff.

The threat call was reported around 12:30 p.m. when airport management informed the police about the possible planting of a bomb in the terminal’s toilet. Soon after the Police and the security forces deployed at the airport were informed about the call, the security forces quickly cordoned off the area, and all passengers, employees, and visitors were evacuated from the premises. Additionally, all the vehicles heading toward the airport were stopped near the toll barrier, further securing the site.

Doiwala SHO Vinod Gosain confirmed the incident, stating that police teams promptly arrived and conducted a thorough search operation. However, no explosives were found, and the threat was later declared to be a hoax call.

This scare follows a similar false bomb threat at Jolly Grant Airport earlier and coincided with bomb threats received by several private schools in Delhi, which also turned out to be baseless. Security agencies, on high alert due to these incidents, have been conducting rigorous checks to prevent any untoward situations.

Authorities are now investigating the source of the hoax call and taking steps to strengthen airport security protocols. Meanwhile, normal operations at the Airport resumed after the situation was declared safe.
