Roorkee, 16 Dec:factory engaged in manufacture of polythene located in Mandawali village, in the Manglaur Kotwali area of Haridwar district, was engulfed in a massive fire late last night. The blaze escalated rapidly, causing chaos in the area. Fortunately, all employees working in the factory managed to escape unharmed. Despite the fire department’s best efforts, the entire factory was reduced to ashes. In all, at least 10 Fire Brigade Firefighting vehicles had to be engaged to fight the fire.
Reports indicate that the factory produced rolls of polythene used in packaging. The fire erupted suddenly while employees were on duty. Panic ensued, and within minutes, the blaze turned into a monstrous inferno with flames visible from several kilometres away, spreading alarm among nearby residents.
Upon receiving the information, the fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations. Due to the intensity of the fire, ten fire engines were called in to assist. Neighbouring factories were evacuated as a precautionary measure, and the power supply to the area was temporarily cut off. After hours of hard work, the fire brigade successfully brought the situation under control.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, the factory suffered complete destruction, with significant financial losses expected as a result. The fire department is currently investigating the cause of the fire, and further details are awaited.
