Dehradun, 18 Dec: Author BPS Walia met Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhawan here, today, and presented his book “Gurdwaras of Africa”.
The book is based on 57 gurdwaras located across 12 African countries, detailing their historical and cultural significance, along with rare photographs. Walia shared that it took him 10 years of extensive research and travel to compile this invaluable collection. He also mentioned that he is currently working on the “Gurdwara in the World” project, which will include information and images of gurdwaras from around the globe.
The Governor congratulated Walia warmly for this unique work and extended his best wishes. He stated that “Gurdwaras of Africa” is a divine and inspirational collection that brilliantly showcases the historical, cultural, and spiritual significance of gurdwaras. The Governor emphasised that this book is an important heritage, not just for the Sikh community, but for the entire world, as it will help promote the significance of gurdwaras and the teachings of the Gurus. He noted that this book is an excellent effort in showcasing the role of gurdwaras on a global scale.
