Dehradun, 19 Dec: ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun, conducted a successful cleanliness drive and awareness walk at its campus, today. The event was jointly organised by the scientists, technical officers, and staff from the Research Prioritisation, Monitoring & Evaluation and Knowledge Management (PME & KM) Unit, Official Language, Hindi Section, and the Estate Section of the Institute. This initiative was part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, which commenced on 16 December, and will continue until 31 December.
Dr M Muruganandam, Head of the PME & KM Unit, coordinated the programme, emphasising the critical role of cleanliness in fostering a greener and healthier environment. Highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the surrounding environment, the drive covered the Institute’s office campus, residential areas, individual house premises, and nearby religious and public spaces.
Er SS Shrimali, Dr Rama Pal, Sr Scientists and Dr Sadikul Islam, Scientist, Mangal Singh Chauhan, Sonia Chauhan, Er Pramod Kumar (Chief Technical Officers), Ashutosh Tiwari (Deputy Director, Official Language), Meenakshi Pant PS, and other staff members of the Institute took part.
The event included the cleaning of household and garden wastes, followed by an awareness demonstration on sustainable waste management practices. A selfie point was established at the end of the programme, encouraging staff members to capture photos and inspire individual responsibility for maintaining a clean environment and to promote the message of cleanliness. This event was participated in by 30 scientists and staff of the Institute as a step forward in reinforcing the commitment of ICAR-IISWC towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
