Mussoorie, 19 Dec: The Indramani Badoni Smriti Vichar Manch submitted a memorandum to SDM Mussoorie, today, demanding renovation of the statue site of Parvatiya Gandhi Indramani Badoni.
Earlier, members of the Vichar Manch demonstrated against the local administration for ignoring the Indramani Badoni memorial site. Manch President Puran Juyal, General Secretary Pradeep Bhandari said that 24 December is the 100th birth anniversary of the late Badoni, the pioneer of the formation of Uttarakhand state.
On 24 December, as always, a programme is to be held at Indramani Badoni Chowk. This time, the 100th birth anniversary will be celebrated in a grand manner. Cultural programmes will be organised at his statue site and the martyrs’ memorial. He said that the Badoni Chowk is in a dilapidated condition. He reminded that, on 2 September, the Chief Minister visited Indramani Badoni Chowk and instructed the Municipality to renovate the site, but even after several months, the condition is very bad. He demanded that the site be renovated before 24 December. If his demand is not met, he would be forced to sit on a dharna at the Chowk on 24 December.
On this occasion, a large number of people were present including Chautaram Badoni, Ramswaroop Semwal, Kamlesh Bhandari, Rajiv Agarwal, Shyam Singh Chauhan, etc.
