Dehradun, 20 Dec: Haridwar MP and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, who celebrated his birthday, today, has issued a statement accusing Congress of engaging in coercive and distractive politics. Rawat strongly criticised Rahul Gandhi over an incident that happened in Parliament House yesterday.

Rawat stated that the events at the Makar Dwar of Parliament happened right before his eyes as he was present there when it happened.

Rawat condemned Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour in Parliament, describing it as inappropriate. He recalled that Gandhi tried to force himself into a group of BJP MPs and pushed them. Several MPs including an elderly MP from Balasore in Odisha was also pushed strongly by Rahul Gandhi, which led to Sarangi falling and getting injured. Rawat labelled Gandhi’s actions as bullying.

Questioning the faith of Congress, Rawat remarked that Rahul Gandhi’s demeanour, wandering with his hands in his pockets after the incident, was indecent. He emphasised that violence against Pratap Sarangi, a saintly person, is unjustifiable. Rawat asserted that Congress lacks faith in, both, Baba Saheb Ambedkar and democracy.

On Rawat’s birthday today, a Janmotsav programme was organised by the former BJP Yuva Morcha District President in Doiwala, which Rawat attended. Speaking about the upcoming Municipal Elections in the state, Rawat claimed that the BJP is in a very strong position and that the party observers are diligently performing their duties. The deserving candidates will be recommended by them for a final decision. He also claimed that BJP would win comfortably in the civic polls and also reminded that BJP has a great track record in the civic polls in the state, particularly in Dehradun.
