Dehradun, 21 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) to maintain smooth public transport services on the Delhi route despite the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-4) policy in the National Capital Region. These instructions have been issued by the CM in response to the difficulties faced by vehicles entering Delhi.
Following the CM’s instructions, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation is operating in alert mode to provide comprehensive services to passengers travelling to Delhi. Efforts being made by UTC in this regard include increasing the frequency of buses and deploying newly purchased vehicles on Delhi route.
Additional Secretary Transport Narendra Kumar Joshi shared that in view of the recent ban on the entry of BS-3 and BS-4 buses into New Delhi, several measures have been undertaken by UTC as per the Chief Minister’s directives. Currently, the corporation has 185 CNG buses operating on the Delhi route. Additionally, 12 BS6 model Volvo buses are running with increased frequency through rescheduling, and 130 newly purchased BS6 model diesel buses are also serving the route from various bus stations in the state.
Despite the current lean season, where passenger availability is around 50 percent, instructions have been issued to operate additional buses immediately if the number of passengers travelling to Delhi increases at any station. Joshi explained that buses unable to enter Delhi are being transported to Mohan Nagar and Kaushambi (in Uttar Pradesh) at the Delhi border as per passenger needs. Coordination with Delhi Road Transport is also ensuring the use of DTC buses to ferry passengers from the border to Delhi.
Joshi also claimed that all bus depots and officers of Uttarakhand have been placed on alert mode to ensure no passenger faces difficulty in travelling from Uttarakhand to Delhi and that the situation for passenger travel remains completely normal.
