Dehradun, 27 Dec: Director General of Police Deepam Seth, today held a review meeting with all district in charge police officers regarding preparations for implementation of new criminal laws and preparations for national game, winter Char Dham Yatra.
Seth held a detailed review regarding implementation of new criminal laws. Main provisions of the new criminal laws, such as Zero FIR, e-FIR, forensic team inspections in serious crimes, digital evidence uploads, and timelines for various proceedings, were emphasised for full compliance. Seth stressed on the importance of data quality for effective use of data analytics and AI, directing all district in-charges to enter accurate and complete data in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS). Investigation officers were also mandated to prepare charge sheets from CCTNS.
Instructions were given to SSPs/SPs to visit sensitive polling stations to ensure fair and peaceful elections. Strict compliance with the model code of conduct was stressed, along with intensive checking campaigns and seizure of illegal materials. The district intelligence system was alerted to monitor social media for anti-social elements spreading rumours. Preventive actions were advised against those disrupting election work, with continuous patrolling and coordination with police officers in border areas.
DGP Seth also held a review of safety and security arrangements for upcoming 38th National Games to be held in five districts from 28 January, 2025. He instructed flawless security arrangements and well-organised traffic management. A special action plan for the safety of players and spectators was to be prepared, including traffic and parking arrangements. The Quick Response Team was to be ready for emergencies, and necessary security equipment like CCTV, drones, and baggage scanners were to be assessed and procured in coordination with the Sports Department.
The DGP directed continuation of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking with accountability ensured at the police station level. The supply chain of drugs was to be included in investigations, and actions were to be taken to acquire the property of the accused. Special checking on local and interstate borders was advised, along with a comprehensive public awareness campaign against drug abuse in educational institutions and community centers.
Seth emphasised continued action against speeding, overloading, rash driving, and driving under the influence of drugs. He directed a detailed action plan by identifying accident-prone areas. He also directed that for the winter Char Dham Yatra, police management and traffic control plans should be executed and publicised through social media. Continuous monitoring by district in-charges was advised to ensure a positive experience for devotees and tourists.
