Haridwar, 1 Feb: Additional Director General of Police (Crime, Law & Order) Uttarakhand Police, V Murugesan visited Haridwar today and chaired a high-level meeting with IG Garhwal and senior police and administrative officials of the district. The meeting focused on reviewing the National Games, Basant Panchami celebrations, and peace and law and order in the rural areas of Haridwar. Sources also claimed that the meeting also discussed measures to enforce law and order in connection with the ongoing tussle between the present MLA Khanpur, Umesh Kumar and the former MLA Khanpur, Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, which has now spilt on to the streets with supporters of both the leaders, creating ruckus and law and order issues in Haridwar district.
During the meeting, the ADG emphasised the importance of maintaining law and order and issued clear instructions to IG Garhwal and SSP Haridwar to strictly prevent any form of anarchy. He stressed that under no circumstances should the district’s atmosphere be allowed to deteriorate and called for the identification and strict action against miscreants. He also instructed that an adequate police force should be deployed to maintain a peaceful environment.
ADG Murugesan stressed on the need for vigilant monitoring of social media to identify and take strict action against those who post inflammatory and misleading content. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and order through dialogue with regional citizens, intellectuals, and social organisations. He assured that Uttarakhand Police is fully committed to maintaining law and order in the state and is prepared to deal with any situation.
In addition, Murugesan also reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing National Games and the preparations for the Basant Panchami bathing festival. He directed the concerned officials to ensure tight security arrangements for these events.
