DEHRADUN, 10 Feb: Dr Khader Valli Dudekula, known as the “Millet Man of India”, addressed the Uttarakhand Police on Sunday at the Intelligence Headquarters, here. In the session, Dr Valli shared his experiences and research regarding millets and emphasised promoting the consumption of millets.

AP Anshuman, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Administration/Intelligence & Security, welcomed Dr Khader Valli with a bouquet of flowers. He said, “The awareness Dr Valli is spreading regarding millets is beneficial not just for our nation but for humanity as a whole. Nature has provided us with highly nutritious millets, and our ancestors lived long, healthy lives by consuming them. However, with the excessive use of rice and wheat, along with the increasing consumption of fast food and processed foods, there has been a shift in the lifestyle of the common people. As a result, people are now suffering from diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and other ailments, becoming heavily dependent on hospitals.”

He further stated that incorporating millets into modern lifestyles can provide a new direction for health, preserve our traditional food heritage, and play a significant role in laying the foundation for a healthy future. “Let us pledge to include millets in our daily lives starting today,” he urged.

In his address, Dr Valli said, “Millets are an integral part of Indian culture and agricultural tradition. Not only does it nourish our bodies, but it also helps in preventing diseases and maintaining health. If your food is right, you won’t need medicine, but if your food is wrong, no medicine will work. So, if you want to stay healthy, include millets in your diet.” He elaborated on his research related to millets and their benefits, focusing on how they can address lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
