CM hands over appointment letters to 126 Gram Panchayat Development Officers

Dehradun, 27 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 126 newly appointed Gram Panchayat Development Officers under the Panchayati Raj Department at a function held at the CM’s Official residence here today. In the last three and a half years, more than 20,000 youth have been provided jobs in government services in the state. The CM congratulated all the candidates and said that this day has brought a new chapter in their lives.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM also warned those who play with the unity of Uttarakhand. He said that the statehood agitationists had dreamt of the creation of Uttarakhand so that development reaches the person standing at the last end of Uttarakhand. All Uttarakhand residents should work together to take the state forward. Dhami urged all Uttarakhand residents to work together with the spirit of one Uttarakhand without getting misled in any way. He warned in a strict tone that no matter who they are, minister, MLA, MP, or even a common Uttarakhandi, the government will not forgive those who play with the unity of Uttarakhand at all. From today onwards, all types of provocative statements will be taken seriously and strict action will be ensured against those who tamper with the identity of Uttarakhand.
The CM expressed hope that the newly selected candidates will work towards ensuring the overall development of villages by becoming an integral part of the most important unit of democracy, the Gram Panchayat. Development of villages is necessary for the overall development of the state. The role of a Gram Panchayat Development Officer is very important in the development of villages.
The Chief Minister said that the strictest anti-copying law in the country has been implemented in the state. Strict provisions of punishment and fines have been made as per this law. When a hardworking and honest person attains a position based on dedication and hard work, they understand the pain and problems of the common people and do their work honestly. He said that the state government is working on the development of villages along with cities with priority, aiming to make Uttarakhand the leading state in the country. A bill has been passed in the assembly for strict land law in the state.
While congratulating all the newly elected Gram Panchayat Development Officers, Panchayati Raj Minister Satpal Maharaj said that many schemes are being run by the double engine government in the state for the all-round development of the state. By implementing the Uniform Civil Code in January 2025, Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement this law. Under the infrastructure facilities in the Gram Panchayats, the Panchayati Raj Department is constructing panchayat buildings and additional rooms. Family registers, birth-death certificates, and building construction no objection certificates are being issued online by the department. He said that computerization work is being done in the panchayats. Computers will be installed in all the panchayats in the next two years.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLA Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, Brij Bhushan Gairola, Chairman of Single Member Dedicated Commission BS Verma, Secretary Panchayati Raj Chandresh Yadav, and Director Panchayati Raj Nidhi Yadav were present.
