Doon Medical College Auditorium inaugurated

Dehradun, 27 Mar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 1232 newly recruited nursing officers at Government Doon Medical College, Patel Nagar, here today. At the same time, he also inaugurated the college’s new auditorium, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 26 crores.
On this occasion, Dhami expressed his gratitude to the nursing staff and health workers for their dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic and commended their selfless service as frontline warriors. He hoped the newly appointed nursing officers would contribute to enhancement of healthcare services in the state through their commitment and human values.

The CM also observed that, under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, more than 11 lakh patients in Uttarakhand have benefited from cashless treatments, amounting to over Rs 2100 crores. Efforts are underway to establish medical colleges in every district to ensure access to modern healthcare facilities for remote areas. He added that heli-ambulance services are also operational now and that they are proving vital in emergencies in inaccessible regions.
Dhami emphasised the government’s initiatives to address staff shortages in hospitals and medical colleges and reminded the audience of recent appointments of 173 assistant professors, 56 faculty members, and 185 technicians in the medical colleges. He also reminded that over 22,000 youth have secured government jobs in just three and a half years.
Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat shared the government plans to commence operations of Pithoragarh and Rudrapur medical colleges and asserted that this would generate employment opportunities and provide better healthcare services. Efforts are also being made to improve transfer policies, promotions, and honorarium revisions for medical personnel.
On the occasion, Medical Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar reaffirmed the department’s commitment to strengthen medical education and healthcare infrastructure by recruiting personnel across all levels. Various dignitaries, including Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das, Ashutosh Sayana, and Geeta Jain, were among those who participated in the event.
