Dehradun, 28 Aug: Attention has been brought by local residents to a highly dangerous situation that has developed in Pondha, here, due to heavy rainfall. The main road leading to the village has been severely damaged and partially cut off. The soil beneath the road has eroded, leaving the structure hollow and unstable.
Currently, no barricades, warning signs, or protective measures have been installed to prevent accidents. This negligence poses a serious risk to the lives of villagers and commuters, as the road may collapse further at any time. With continuous rainfall, the chances of a major accident or fatality are extremely high.
Residents have sought immediate intervention to deploy barriers and caution signs to prevent vehicles and pedestrians from using the damaged stretch. An urgent inspection of the site is needed to take stabilisation measures. A safe alternative route has been sought until repairs are completed.
The villagers are deeply concerned, as this road is their only access to essential services, schools, and medical facilities. Quick action from the administration will help prevent loss of life and restore confidence in the safety of the area.
