Dehradun, 22 Sep: Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi today held a meeting at his camp office with officials of the PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) to review the status of roads blocked due to heavy rains, as well as damaged rural motor roads and bridges across the state. He directed the officials to prepare an action plan and expedite restoration work under PMGSY so that connectivity in rural areas can be restored at the earliest.
Officials informed him that, under PMGSY, a total of 89 roads are currently blocked across the state — 70 in the Garhwal region and 19 in Kumaon. To clear these blocked routes, 104 machines have been deployed in Garhwal and 63 JCB machines in Kumaon.
While reviewing disaster-related damage in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency, Minister Joshi instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) to immediately begin the reconstruction of damaged roads and bridges in affected areas. He further directed officials to prepare estimates of damaged roads, bridges, etc., obtain government approval, and commence reconstruction work quickly to ensure smooth movement for the local people.
He specifically instructed PWD officials to complete the restoration works on Anarwala–Malsi road, Ghaziwala, Halduwala, Ghattigola damaged bridge, Kimadi motor road, and protective works in Chamasari at the earliest. He also directed that the Kyara–Dhanolti motor road, announced under the Chief Minister’s declaration, be taken up on a priority basis.
During the meeting, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi appreciated PWD officials and employees for completing the Bailey Bridge on the Mussoorie–Dehradun road, which was damaged in the recent disaster, in record time.
On this occasion, CEO, URRDA, Abhishek Rohila, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Sanjay Kumar Pathak, Chief Engineer, PWD, Ranjit Singh, District Panchayat Member Veer Singh Chauhan, Manjeet Rawat, Bhupendra Kathait, and other officials were present.
