Dehradun, 2 Nov: As part of the State Foundation Silver Jubilee Celebrations, various engaging programmes were organised on the second day at Doon Library and Research Centre, here, today. The Uttarakhand Book Fair and Children’s Activities remained the major attractions of the day.

This event is a part of the second series of the State Foundation Day Celebrations, aimed at bringing the literary, cultural, and intellectual heritage of Uttarakhand to the people.

At the ongoing book fair organized in the library premises, visitors continued to purchase books enthusiastically. It is worth noting that publishers have displayed books related to Uttarakhand’s culture, society, folk life, and history for sale. The fair has become a common platform for knowledge, dialogue, and creativity — offering a wide range of books, from local literature to works by renowned authors. Visitors actively purchased books on various subjects from the stalls throughout the day.

The special highlight of today’s programme was the Children’s Activities, which turned out to be a lively and inspiring segment designed to foster creativity, confidence, and cultural attachment among children towards the folk traditions of Uttarakhand. Dressed in traditional attire, the children brought Uttarakhand’s culture to life through folk songs, dances, and storytelling. The little performers won everyone’s hearts with their talent.

Under these activities, the Uttarakhand Talent Show was organised, in which children presented captivating performances based on folk songs, folk dances, traditional costumes, and folk tales.

Children in the 4–6 years age group participated in folk dances and traditional dress displays, while those aged 7–10 years presented folk songs, folk dances, folk stories, poems, and traditional costumes — beautifully portraying the traditions of Uttarakhand.

These performances conveyed a powerful message that the state’s culture and traditions are now in safe hands — those of the younger generation.

The panel of judges included Deepakshi Gusain, Zohra Nizami, and Kalpana Bahuguna. Participants showcased their creativity through solo, duet, and group performances.

Ten outstanding participants were awarded for their best performances: First Prize – Nimisha Singh, Second Prize – Kushagra Dobal, and Third Prize – Arunya Tomar.  In addition, two special honours were awarded to “Aasra Trust Group” and “Raphael Ryder Group” for their remarkable group performances. Both groups deeply moved the audience with their heartfelt presentations, filling the atmosphere with joy and emotion.

The event’s success was made possible through the contributions of Megha N. Wilson, Utkarsh Rawat, Suman Bhardwaj, Jaibhagwan Goyal, Meenakshi Kukreti, Sweety, Shakuntala Dariyal, Shailendra Singh Rautela, Sundar Singh Bisht, Rakesh Kumar, and Vijay Bahadur, Pankaj Sharma.

The programme was compered by Madhu Dangwal. A large number of people were present on the occasion.
