Dehradun, 25 Nov: A health awareness lecture cum discussion on “Beat Bad Cholesterol” was jointly organised today with the help of CAHO by Station Health Organisation (SHO) and Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun at the Doon Sainik Institute, here. The programme began with an inaugural address by Captain Neeraj Kumar and Captain Sonali, who emphasised the importance of preventive health, lifestyle management, and regular medical screening for all ranks.
The lecture was delivered by Dr Adnan Masood, Associate Director, Internal Medicine, Max Super Speciality Hospital, who explained the importance of cholesterol management, the differences between good (HDL) and bad (LDL) cholesterol, and how uncontrolled LDL levels contribute to heart disease and stroke. He highlighted major risk factors such as unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, obesity, and stress, and shared essential lifestyle modifications for prevention.
Brigadier Praful Mohan, Commandant, MH Dehradun, addressed the audience with a brief, impactful session encouraging personnel and families to adopt heart-healthy habits. He also felicitated Dr Adnan Masood with a memento in appreciation of his contribution to the programme.
A health exhibition was laid out by SHO, showcasing educational material and demonstrations on maintaining cardiovascular health, healthy diet choices, and preventive lifestyle practices.
A total of 271 attendees were present, comprising 5 Officers, 42 Junior Commissioned Officers, 120 Other Ranks, and 104 Families. The participants gained valuable insights into maintaining healthy cholesterol levels and overall cardiovascular wellness.
