Dehradun, 25 Nov: A delegation of sugarcane farmers from Haridwar today called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami here today. They  submitted a memorandum to him regarding their demands, including the announcement of the State-Advised Price of sugarcane for the 2025–26 crushing season. The farmers also presented sugarcane to the CM, who sat with them in the lawn under the afternoon sun and tasted the cane, while assuring them of positive consideration of their issues.

The delegation, led by MLA Adesh Chauhan and former Cabinet Minister Swami Yatishwaranand, raised several demands including construction of embankments up to the Raisi–Balawali bridge, establishment of a sugar mill in the Iqbalpur–Jhabrera–Bhagwanpur area, construction of an irrigation canal in the Iqbalpur–Jhabrera region and clearance of pending payments of farmers from the Doiwala sugar mill. They reiterated the need for announcing the State-Advised Price for the 2025–26 crushing session at the earliest.

Dhami, while interacting with the farmers seated on the ground, assured them that all their demands, including the sugarcane price, would be considered positively. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to safeguarding farmers’ interests. MLA Pradeep Batra, District Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Chaudhary and former MLA Sanjay Gupta were also present on this occasion.
