Actor Hemant Pandey, son Himanshu Pandey conduct 45-Day theatre workshop in Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh, 3 Dec: A 45-day theatre workshop is being organised in District Pithoragarh by the Shubhchintak Social and Cultural Committee, Pithoragarh, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Dehradun. The workshop seeks to train young artistes of the region in various dimensions of theatre and emerging visual media.

In the initial days of the workshop, some sessions on acting, music and finer aspects of theatre were conducted by well-known Bollywood and TV actor Hemant Pandey. This has been followed by classes on cinematography by Hemant Pandey’s son, Himanshu Pandey.

During the workshop, Himanshu Pandey, presently pursuing his graduation in Film, Television & New Media Production (FTNMP), conducted detailed sessions on Cinematography. In this class, he introduced participants to the fundamentals of lenses, lighting, camera movements, composition, shot sizes, the exposure triangle, and contrast. He also explained the finer distinctions between camera acting and theatre acting, offering practical insights drawn from contemporary film-making techniques.

The workshop is set to conclude on 14 December 2025 with the staging of the play, ‘Kissa Maujpur Ka’, at 5 p.m. at the Pithoragarh Municipal Corporation auditorium. The play has been written by Jaywardhan and will be directed by Kailash Kumar.

Speaking to Garhwal Post, Himanshu Pandey observed that such initiatives are vital for nurturing local talent and giving youngsters the confidence to consider careers in theatre and the visual arts. He added that Pithoragarh has a wealth of creative potential that deserves proper platforms and consistent encouragement. Hemant also disclosed that his father had to go out of town for a few days but he is coming back soon and will continue with the workshop.

Both Hemant Pandey and his son Himanshu have been widely appreciated for giving back to their native place. Their commitment to promoting theatre and artistic culture in the region has earned them considerable goodwill and admiration.
