Dehradun, 12 Dec: Dehradun Police carried out a raid at a guest house near Bansal Home on Shimla Bypass Road under the Kotwali Patel Nagar area following a complaint lodged by Bajrang Dal activists. During the operation, a Muslim youth was detained along with a minor girl, and some objectionable material was recovered from the room where they were found. Both were taken to the ISBT Chowki, where police reportedly discovered numerous explicit photographs of various young women on the youth’s mobile phone.
Since the case was reported soon after a minor girl was spotted with the youth to the Police and action followed swiftly, the minor girl stated that no untoward incident had occurred with her. The police then contacted her parents, and after counselling, she was handed over to her family. Officials said further action is being initiated against the accused youth.
Bajrang Dal activist Aman Swedia alleged that a youth named Haider had brought the minor girl to the guest house. The activists immediately alerted the ISBT Police, after which Bajrang Dal members accompanied the Kotwali Patel Nagar Police to the location, where the accused was found with the minor. Swedia claimed that the youth’s mobile phone contained obscene photographs of several young women.
Activists further alleged that Haider used such explicit images to blackmail young women. They also claimed that when the guest house owner was questioned about allowing a minor to check in, he attempted to offer money to suppress the matter. According to them, the operator provided rooms for Rs 1,000 without demanding any identification. They have urged the police to take strict action against the operator and seal the guest house.
ISBT Chowki In-charge Harsh Arora also confirmed the incident and stated that, during questioning, the minor revealed she was a resident of Tehri and that nothing inappropriate had happened to her. Her parents were subsequently called to Dehradun, and they declined to pursue any formal police action. After counselling, the minor was handed over to her family. Arora said that further action is underway against the accused youth.
