New Delhi/Dehradun, 16 Dec: The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana has significantly strengthened employment opportunities for rural youth in Uttarakhand, with around 16,000 young people securing jobs under the Central scheme, supported by a cumulative fund release of Rs 187 crores under the scheme. This information was shared in Parliament today following a query raised during the Question Hour by BJP State President and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Mahendra Bhatt regarding the number of beneficiaries of the scheme in the state.
Replying on behalf of the Ministry of Rural Development, Minister of State Kamlesh Paswan informed the House that a total of 25,113 candidates have been trained under the scheme in Uttarakhand up to November 2025. Out of these, 15,820 youths have already gained employment, while an amount of Rs 187.88 crore has been released to support the implementation of the programme. Paswan further stated that, at present, 683 candidates are undergoing training in 22 batches across eight different trades under DDU-GKY 1.0. In addition, a target of 2,783 candidates has been allocated for the financial year 2025–26 under DDU-GKY 2.0. The State Expression of Interest process has received 175 project applications so far, of which 54 have been found eligible.

In response to another question raised by Bhatt, also during Question Hour, Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik provided details of electricity supplied to Uttarakhand from NHPC hydroelectric projects during the past three years. According to the information placed before the House, the Tanakpur Project supplied to Uttarakhand power to the tune of 65.8 MW, 56.2 MW and 56.8 MW of power during the last three years, respectively, and has supplied a total of 50.6 MW so far in the current operational year. The Dhauliganga Project, meanwhile, supplied 216.8 MW, 175.5 MW and 192.6 MW during the same period, respectively, and has provided 155.3 MW of electricity in the ongoing operational year.
